This is for guidance; the final reference is the Ministry of Labour or the labour dispute settlement committees.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it based on basic or total salary?

On your last basic salary, without allowances such as housing and transport, unless your contract says otherwise.

I resigned after two years. Do I get gratuity?

Yes. Qatari law gives gratuity to every worker who completes a year, with no reduction for resignation, unlike Saudi Arabia or Kuwait.

Why do some calculators give a slightly different figure?

Some calculate the daily wage as (salary × 12 ÷ 365) instead of (salary ÷ 30), a difference of about 1.4%. This calculator uses ÷ 30, the common approach; in a dispute, the official bodies decide.

Which misconduct cancels the gratuity?

Article 61 lists the cases, such as false identity or forged documents, causing serious loss, disclosing secrets, assaulting the employer, or unjustified absence of more than 7 consecutive days or 15 days in a year. If you think the dismissal was unfair, you can appeal to the labour dispute committees.
