Hijri vs Gregorian year: the difference

How many days apart they are, why Ramadan moves earlier every year, and how to convert.

These calculators help you learn and estimate; they are not a fatwa. For special cases — an estate with a bequest or many debts, or a fasting case with an excuse — ask your country’s fatwa authority or a trusted scholar. How each calculator works and its sources.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the results a fatwa?

No. The calculators apply the rules held by most jurists and point out where scholars differ, but they are a helper, not a fatwa. For special cases ask your country’s fatwa authority or a trusted scholar.

How are the prayer times calculated?

With each country’s official method: the Egyptian General Authority of Survey method in Egypt (Fajr at 19.5°, Isha at 17.5°) and the Umm al-Qura calendar in Saudi Arabia. We compared the results with the tables of Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta and the Egyptian Survey Authority: most match to the minute and none is more than one minute off.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser on your device; the numbers you type are not sent to any server.
