When does Ramadan 2027 start?
According to the Umm al-Qura calendar and astronomical calculations, the first day of Ramadan 1448 AH is expected on Monday, 8 February 2027, with the first taraweeh prayer on the evening of Sunday, 7 February. Eid al-Fitr is expected on Tuesday, 9 March 2027 by the Umm al-Qura calendar, or Wednesday, 10 March by other calculations if Ramadan completes 30 days.

Why can the date change by a day?
A Hijri month begins when the new crescent is sighted after sunset on the 29th of the previous month. If it is seen, the new month starts; if not, the month completes 30 days. Astronomical calculations predict visibility very accurately, but each country’s official announcement is what counts, and it sometimes differs between countries by a day.
